About Me
From Sourdough to Pastries!
Like many, I fell into the nationwide "bread-making" phase during the height of the quarantine in 2020. I didn't expect to be so intrigued by the process of making sourdough bread. Although maybe I shouldn't have been so surprised; since I studied science in college, my inquisitive nature wouldn't let me feel satisfied until I knew the how's and why's behind sourdough breadmaking. My thirst for knowledge paired with the enjoyment of a tasty treat led to weeks of experimentation which brought on all kinds of breads and pastries. What began as a fascination quickly turned into a long-lasting passion for the art - and science - of baking.
Sustainably Sourced Ingredients
My goal is to strive for sustainability throughout my baking journey. That means aiming to source my ingredients locally, incorporating ingredients that are in-season, and using eco-friendly packaging. As a degree holder of Environmental Science, I see lots of opportunity to expand on my baking processes and packaging so that I can contribute to a more green and sustainable future.
I proudly source my eggs from my family's ranch in Woodstock IL, and the honey comes from family beehives in Wisconsin. With an extensive amount of land from my family's ranch, I am experimenting with growing whole wheat, fruits and herbs this summer with the goal in mind to incorporate them into many of my baked goods. Stay tuned this summer for more developments!
